Think New Year’s resolutions are passé? That they never last?
That’s probably because you put so much pressure on kicking a bad habit very quickly.
It doesn’t happen overnight, but if you can break down your resolutions into bite-sized goals, you’re more likely to succeed in achieving them.
Read on for a few things you can try to get you back into the right healthy groove this 2022!
Go for a walk.
Especially if you haven’t run in a while or have taken a Christmas break from it!
It’s better to start slow and work your way towards your original capacity, than force yourself and get injured.
Plus, walking is actually a good cardio exercise! Better yet, use a reliable fitness tracker to check your progress and help you stay committed to your workout goals.
Grab one at a discount from Fitbit, Garmin, or Samsung through the AIA Vitality app. (Not a member of AIA Vitality? Click here to start your journey!)
Munch on fruits.
The holidays are known for sugary treats, and if you’ve fallen into the habit of snacking on cakes or sweet pastries, it may not be wise to stop cold turkey.
You don’t want to trigger sugar cravings because you’ve suddenly deprived yourself of it.
Try slowly replacing those sugary carbs with fruits for a healthier alternative to sweets. There are so many to choose from!
Save an episode for tomorrow.
If you’ve been binging on Netflix shows over the holidays, it’s hard to stop even if you’re already tired.
So instead of swearing off the small screen entirely, start with stopping one episode short of what you usually consume, and gradually work your way up.
The best part of this is that you can use the hour you saved to get more sleep!
Make time to care for yourself.
There are no more celebrations to chase or parties to plan, so don’t put off your health appointments any longer.
Take that much-needed dental appointment or set an appointment with your doctor for that yearly check-up.
Just make sure you follow health protocols to keep safe during the pandemic!
Check back on AIA Vitality.
There’s nothing more motivating than being rewarded for the smallest healthy victories.
From taking 7,500 steps to tracking your meals, getting more sleep, or even keeping your health numbers in check – nothing is too small for AIA Vitality to reward!
Try these little wins to start off 2022 right.
Do one more for your health every day, and before you know it, your wellness journey is back on track!
